Overview

Snippets summarizes your recent activity across Gmail, Calendar, Keep, Photos, and Drive metadata. All processing occurs locally in Chrome; Snippets does not send your data to any external server.

Snippets is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

Data Collected

• Gmail: message metadata (subject, ID, timestamp). No message bodies are fetched.
• Calendar: event metadata (title, time range) within your selected period.
• Photos Library: recent uploads and album activity.
• Drive: file metadata for Docs, Sheets, Slides (title, type, modified time). No file contents.
• Keep: minimal DOM metadata to reflect note activity; no note content.

How Data Is Used

Data is used solely to generate a concise, on-device activity summary displayed in Chrome’s side panel. When available, Chrome’s built-in AI may assist summarization; otherwise a deterministic local summarizer is used.

Storage & Retention

Settings and optional summary edits are stored locally via chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.session. You can delete all local data and sign out at any time from the extension’s options.

User Controls

• Enable/disable sources (Gmail, Calendar, Keep, Photos, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Select time ranges (Last 24 hours, Past week, Past month, custom).
• Use data minimization mode to further reduce metadata in summaries.
• Delete all local data and sign out at any time.

Sharing & Selling

Snippets does not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third party.

Permissions

• identity: OAuth sign-in via Chrome to access your Google data securely.
• storage: Save local settings and summary preferences.
• sidePanel: Render the summary in Chrome’s side panel.
• scripting & activeTab: Limited use for the Keep content script to read minimal DOM metadata.
• host_permissions: Access Google domains to fetch your metadata (mail, calendar, keep, photos, docs).

Security

OAuth tokens are handled by Chrome’s identity APIs. Processing and storage are local to your browser.
